Spanikopita Burgers

Hey, hey! We're half way through the work week and its a LOST night, so things are good ;)

My plan after work today was to walk Frank, give him a bath, and then relax and take a night off from the gym. While the walk/bath happened...I did end up working out. I made a big decision last week to train in another Les Mills program, Body Attack! One of my friends, whose already certified, let me borrow her DVD so I could start learning the moves, so I did the video tonight and boy did I sweat! From the Les Mills website:

"BODYATTACK™ is the sports-inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina. This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises. Dynamic instructors and powerful music motivate everyone towards their fitness goals - from the weekend athlete to the hard-core competitor!"

You runners out there would LOVE this class. Here and here are promo videos for attack. I am going to training in Florida next weekend for two days, I am SUPER excited.

Any who, onto dinner! I made a half batch of spanikopita burgers tonight for dinner.

Josh's plate:

And mine:

Yum! I love using Arnold's thins as buns! Did you set fitness goals for this year? If so, hows it going?

I am in love with Arnold sandwich thins...try them with hummus, omg.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it (as does my family).

Those burgers look great! My goals are in line right now. I need to step up my workouts, but my slow and steady plan with running is going well.

Les Mills are the classes they teach here at the gyms where we live in Brazil. I love Body Balance, but haven't tried the others.

Ooh, I am going to make a similar burger this weekend!! I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm 27 days into 30 days of Pilates. Love it.

Yummy looking burgers!

I've always been afraid to try Body Attack. I don't really have a good reason why, other than the name scares me maybe? "Attack" just sounds hard. :)

My fitness goal is to start running. I have attempted many times, but always give up when shin splints kick in.

THat looks great Erica! Yourmeals always do though. Josh AND Frank are lucky boys.
I didn't make any goals! But I'm comfortable with where I'm at. I guess my goal would be to keep doing what I'm doing. :)

oh how exciting that you're going to be training!

I love the arnold thins as buns too, soo good.
I set some fintess goals for myself, and as someone who didn't go to the gym often at all, I have definitely improved.
Have fun in Florida next week as well that sounds like fun.

this comment is a little late, its actually in response to YESTERDAYS post (the part about the protein powder). im actually OBSESSED with that exact brand of protein powder, but i prefer it in the vanilla flavor. My favorite lunch/power snack ever (i actually had it today!) is a shake/smoothie consisting of 1 packet vanilla whey protein powder (that exact same brand!), 1 frozen banana, 1 cup light vanilla soymilk, 1/2 cup nonfat fage yogurt, LOTS of cinnamon, a little stevia, and some ice. blend it all up and im telling you, it is creamy, dreamy, ecstasy in a glass! love the blog!

Your food is just driving me crazy...it's so pretty and sounds yumm.

Fitness goals? I seem to be injury prone this year, so my goal is to go to the gym 4-5 days a week and do whatever does not hurt me!

BODYATTACK!! Haha I just love the name. It reminds me of P90X because it screams INTENSE! As far as my fitness goal, P90X is going pretty well so far! I'm starting to combine it with some of my regular workouts and finding that the combination is even better :o)

I want your burgers!!

Spanikopita is one of my FAVORITE things ever. And as burgers? Holy moly! I've said it before, but you are a genius child.

I set fitness goals and so far I've been doing pretty well. We'll see where I am in a month!

Oh yum. Those burgers look delish. I've never heard of putting spanikopita in burger form. Very cool.

I'm pretty much on schedule with my goal to train for a half marathon. However, I would like to add more circuit and ab training.

Btw, thanks for your comment on my blog!!!

BodyAttack sounds intense - I bet I would love it. I can't wait to hear how the training in FL goes.

Your dinner looks so good - love the green peeking out of the burgers. I still haven't found Arnold's sandwich thins. However, I hear a rumor they sell them at the new Publix up the street. Going to check it out soon.

My fitness goal for the new year was more yoga. I think I'm doing okay. :)

Those burgers look and sound amazing! Do you think they would work with veggie crumbles?

I have never heard of Spanikopita! But it looks delicious ... I might have to try those sometime soon.

Hope Lost was good (I kinda wish I had started watching it from the beginning so I could be in the loop, lol). Have a great Thursday, Erica! : )

wow ! that is an intense looking class, what a booty kicker! thats awesome :)
my fitness goals are to stay consistent and not get in a funk and forget about working out. I used to be realy good for 2 weeks and then i'd stop for another 2 and keep the cycle going. I've been pretty consistent since about november of last year! its the longest i've gone and it feels greattt :)

and about the headhunter... how do i go about finding one? i seem pretty clueless about it all? do you pay them? how does it really work? thanks girllll!

We have been swimming laps a couple times a week...along with my elliptical workouts and running, weights, abs, yoga, etc. Swimming is awesome! I really love it and it is a great workout! I am glad I started it up!

yum on the burgers - I love how HE has 2 and you have 1 :) men!

I wanted to start running and I started back in Dec and I'm still at it!

oh and the arnold sammich thins taste GREAT - toasted to a crisp and spread with EArth Balance (vegan butter) soooo good! but I second the hummus suggestion! my MIL is getting a huge tub of Sabra hummus for me and sammich thins and I intend on making a yummy veggielicious sammich w/ hummus & sprouts eventually!

Sophia Lee said...

I haven't tried those arnold thins yet...they just don't look so filling to me! maybe you can prove me wrong?
good luck on your fitness goals!

Love the Spanikopita burgers. Love them. Fitness goals? The workouts are going well, but the diet keeps getting sidelined by the cheese counter at my local gourmet shop. Guess it's all about working out so I can eat more cheese!

Holly said...

Love, love, LOVE Arnold's sandwich thins. :-) Spani - what? hahaha, I couldn't pronounce it but they look sooo yummy!

My fitness goal was mainly to be more consistent with my workouts and also branch out more. I've been consistent...workin' on the branching out!

So you really liked the body attack? You could feel like you were working?

Ok those burgers sound awesome, will be trying those soon!! I love spinach.

My fitness goal this year is to do my second sprint triathlon! I just joined the triathlon team at my YMCA and I start training next week, I'm pretty excited about. I have been struggling with weight loss since I had my little girl so I am hoping this will do the trick (and be more fun and interesting than the same old workout). Anyway...hope you have a great night!
