Great Weekend & Workouts

Hey All! This is going to be a pictured filled, minimum word post. We had a great weekend with Josh's parents. We looked at houses (we're trying to convince them to move here ;)), ate wonderful meals, and just enjoyed our time together.

Dinner out at Blossom, Josh's parents:

Josh and I:
My personal white pizza (it was sooo filling- I ate half and Josh finished it up for lunch the next day!):

Josh's Dad's Mahi:

Josh's Mom's Chicken:

Josh's fettuccine:

Blossom was very tasty! I liked it much more than Cypress.

Blossom Cafe on Urbanspoon
On Sunday, we went to an Oyster Roast to raise money for the Roper St. Francis Senior Center. The Oyster Roast was held at Bowen's Island Restaurant (anyone seen the Man vs. Food Charleston episode?):

Even though I'm a vegetarian, I enjoyed the beautiful views and was happy to attend the event to support a friend who works for the Senior Center:

Such a great weekend! To top it all off, I got this fabulous package of European goodies from a contest I won at Geek Turned Athlete (THANK YOU NICOLE!!!)

How is your week going? Powering through your workouts? I love reading about what you all do to keep healthy/in shape. Some of my favorites this week? Tina is loving Body Pump, Janetha is kicking butt with her own boot camp style workouts, Maria is also enjoying Les Mills programs with both Body Pump and Combat and Naomi is running and training in the gym. I am traveling this week for work, so my plan is a little up in the air:
  • Monday: Ran & Taught Body Pump
  • Tuesday: Home style boot camp workout and outdoor run
  • Wednesday: Workout at Hotel Gym
  • Thursday: Off
  • Friday: Teaching Body Pump (probably a short run beforehand)
  • Saturday: Teaching Body Step
  • Sunday: Off

Random Question- do you all celebrate Valentine's Day? Do you go all out? Do you just enjoy the candy? Or do you hate it? Let me know ;)

Love the pics. I so miss those amazing views in Mount. P. Sooo gorgeous. Id love to go back and visit one day! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend though girl. Mine was pretty good. Took a trip and just got back. So back to the grind now! Im kinda neutral on Valentine's day. I kinda think its a bit cheesy, ha! So me and my hubs might just hang with a movie and some takeout. lol. ssoo unoriginal but still fun! Anyways have an awesome week sweetie!!

dammmn i thought i was gonna be the first commenter!

love your little dates! you and josh are the cutest couple :)

i don't hate valentines day! i'm single and i think it's nice when people celebrate :) obviously love should be shown all throughout the year but so what if one day out of the year is made for candy and cards. i say there's no point in hating on it just either ignore it or get on the bandwagon :) i'll hang out, pop some popcorn and watch pride and prejudice haha because hey theres no point in not!

Josh has got quite a bit of his Dad in him! :)

We usually go to a Valentine's Dance that the kids school put on as a fundraiser. It's always a good time!

Such cute pics.. Josh's FAM is adorable... glad you had a great weekend with some yummy eats!!

Valentines DAY.. hmm... yeah, we usually just go out to dinner. Its the anniversary of our "first date".. soo cliche.. but we always go somewhere a TAD more pricey than normal.

Have a great day, hun :)

Awww what a fun family outing!

The hubbie and I never really got too into Valentine's Day...we do the whole card/flowers thing but don't go all out. Plus now our wedding anniversary is Feb. 28th so we will be focusing on that!

Wow, your views this weekend were amazing! So jealous! I'm so glad that the package got to you okay! I was so worried! I have just been doing school stuff (full time grad student), marathon/triathlon training, and teaching! I was supposed to have 5 indoor cycling classes this week, but it got cut down to 3. I have 5 next week to teach though! I'm scurred!!

You had the best dish at Blossom I think, your white pizza looks fabulous! I haven't made pizza in a while, I might try a white one. We had an amazing white pizza at a new local place recently, with four cheeses, scallions, and chilis. It was phenomenal, a homemade version with added spinach and tomatoes would be over the top.

We're not big on Valentine's Day; we try to do something slightly special but we haven't gone out on Vday since maybe our first year dating. I usually do something special at home- one year I made dinner entirely of finger foods, a sort of appetizer smorgasbord with cheese, cubed bread, sushi...can't remember the rest. We're contemplating going out this year but not sure yet. If we do it would just be a nice dinner with the two of us.

I am not sure what we are doing for V-Day this year. Maybe staying in and cooking dinner?

Glad you had such a wonderful weekend! I do nothing on V-day. I am not a fan :)

Love the pics!! They were beautiful.

As for V-day, my girls and I usually make a big deal out of it with crafts and construction paper. Plus, we make everything we can into hearts ... heart shaped cake or cookies, heart shaped pizza ... and so on. Joe always sends the girls and I flowers. It makes the girls feel all grown-up ... super cute!!

looks like you had such a nice time with your parents-in-law! hopefully they will move there :) that color of blue looks amazing on you! it really makes your eyes pop! thanks for the shout out :) your workouts ALWAYS impress me! you fit little thing, you! marshall and i celebrated big-time on our first vday.. expensive gifts, dinner out, the works. ever since then, we decided it is a waste and we just stay at home, i cook, he cleans up and we hang with the dogs :) much better. what about you? xoxo

Josh looks so much like his dad! Glad you had such a fun weekend with them in town.

Jacob and I don't really do anything for valentines day... but this year we're going snow shoeing. Not for valentines day, it just happened to be that same weekend. :)

ooh, looks like a fabulous weekend!!

i hate v-day... it's so commercial, i think little gestures mean so much more when they come on a random day, not when everyone else is. but that's just me :)

Holly said...

I love all the family pics! LOVE your blue shirt (sweater?). And oh my, that pizza. 'Nough said. :-)

Ohhh, Valentine's Day. I do love the candy - especially the conversation hearts! LOL. I think it's sweet but do agree with others that it's because very commercialized. Since I'm single, I'm going out with my single ladies that night!

looks like a great weekend! i love that white pizza!

i'm really enjoying spin class right now, that's been my latest exercise obsession.

i love v-day. we usually stay in, but it's just a nice day to remember why we're together in the first place :-)

YAY! I tink this is the first time I saw you order something out other than a salad. Girl, I LOVE your salads but sometimes you just need a pizza in your life and this one looked incredible! :)

Glad you had a great weekend. Josh's parents are too cute.

Hmmm, my idea of the perfect V-day is what my hubby did for me last year. Booked me a spa day with a message, while he cleaned the house and cooked the most romantic meal. It was incredible! :)

Great pics! Good luck getting Josh's parents to move closer to you. More family the better, in my opinion!

What a fabulous weekend. That pizza looks to die for!

We do celebrate Valentines Day, but we don't go all out. We pretty much just make a special dinner and do small gifts. Nothing too major!

Averie @ Averie Cooks said...

You're trying to get your inlaws to move closer, Ill remember that :) kidding!

V-Day. We "celebrate" as in a card. Married 9 yrs, together 11 and a 3 yr old, i just ask for no crying at the dinner table, that's a celebration :) Diamonds and Godiva are welcome though!

Cute pictures from dinner!
That was nice of you to go and support the charity even though you couldn't partake in the oyster part:) Those views really are spectacular.
I like Valentine's Day, and we usually celebrate it, but this year, we'll be on a plane coming back from a wedding, so I doubt we'll do too much celebrating this year.

I do like Valentine's Day, and we usually celebrate. But this year we'll be on a plane coming home from a wedding, so I doubt we'll do too much.

hmm well this is teh first valentines day I have had a serious BF we have been together for a year next week (wow time flies!) we are actually going to be away with his family in Canada! so it should be low key and fun!!

Maria said...

Glad you had a fun time. thanks for sharing the photos! And thanks for the shout out, yes I am OBSESSED with Pump and Combat:) I can't get enough! I don't know what we will do for Vday this year. Last year we went to a cabin for a weekned get away. That was fun. This time we will probably just stay home and make a tasty meal. Going out is too crowded!

Oh, I love Blossom! It has been one of my favorites for years now. :)

We don't really celebrate Valentine's day... I'm sure we'll go out to dinner but we don't do presents. I guess I'm not the most romantic person in the world, either. lol

What do you guys normally do?

I usually do a girls' night with one of my friends- but my mom sends me a cute package with candy and stuff so I'm still a fan :D What a fun weekend, i hope they can find a house! Good luck traveling Erica!

Looks like a fun weekend. I have seen that Man vs. Food episode. Have you ever been to the sushi place on the same episode with the spicy rolls? Jason is convinced that he would be able to complete the challenge.

We usually do Chinese take out for V-day. It's so much less hassle than going to a nice restaurant.

The pics are so pretty! I like to celebrate Valentine's Day, but nothing over the top-just a quiet romantic dinner or spending time together is enough for me.

Jasmine @ Eat Move Write said...

I don't "hate" Vday, but it's not a big deal to hubby and I. We celebrate our love the entire year. I think it's a little silly to spend money (especially if you don't have it) just because the greeting card industry wanted a February holiday or something.

We usually do dinner at home or something small.

Anonymous said...

i have mixed feelings about valentines day - sometimes i feel like its a hallmark holiday and that i should show the people in my life that i care about them everyday, not jsut on v-day - then other times i think its a great excuse to spoil them too!

The pics are beautiful. It looks like you had a great weekend.

In terms of workouts, my gym schedule has gotten very hectic. The company that I work for is hosting a "Biggest Loser" type challenge for the workers...and two of my co-workers are participants. They have asked me to be their personal trainer. Therefore, my time at the gym has looked a lot like this lately:

M- Steady State Cardio Session (30 mins w/ the girls, 30 mins on my own)
T- Intervals on Treadmill, Weights
W- Repeat of Monday
R-Repeate of Tuesday
Friday - Solo workout day -- usually spend it on the elliptical
S- Rest Day
Sun - Jillian Micheals DVD

To asnwer your question about Valentine's day, the hubby and I keep things pretty low-key since it is just a month prior to our anniversary. Last year, we exchanged cards and favorite candy bars.

Package looks fun!
I have nothing against Valentine's day, I think it's nice to have a day specifically for each other, but time should be made for each other throughout the year as well. I'm single so I have nothing planned this year, however I have bought some of my favorite valentines day candy, sweethearts!

Molly said...

That pizza looks amazing! Nothing better than good pizza (or worse than bad pizza, for that matter)!

And I'm jealous of all that dark chocolate! Yum!

Holly said...

you are too dang cute girl!

ummm first things first, AMAZING package from nicole, right? that truffle chocolate is TO DIE FOR!

and i think your white pizza looks like pretty much the best thing ever. i totally prefer white pizza to red sauce 'za. sooooo good!

and as a friend, i will hereby plead for josh's parents to move closer to you as well :) love ya girl!

Valentine's Day....we really should do something sweet and lovey but nothing planned yet! Actually I have a yoga workshop that day, but I'll have to come up with something for Sat or Sun night! It's a little different now that we're married, not sure why! I'd still like roses :-)

Great pictures! Looks like you had a great time with your in laws!

Nice workouts despite traveling - that's really difficult.

We don't do Valentine's Day, so it won't be anything exciting for us. But my birthday is 5 days after, so we'll save it up for then!

I love that sign. Too funny. I love Man vs Food, but I'm trying to remember if I saw the Charleston episode. What a great prize pack too. I am actually doing pretty well at powering through my workouts. My 4 miles went awesome Tues and I'm pumped for 4 more today! Have a great weekend!

We always celebrate inside - too expensive at restaurants and usually overrated!

Yum yum..that pizza looks good. Sadly, i have been slacking on the workouts lately. Better work on that ;)

That white pizza made me drool!

I don't hate Valentine's Day, but we don't really celebrate. I may get a card for the husband or do something cutesy and make it from our 4 month old daughter, but I doubt we go out and we're not exchanging gifts.

CaSaundraLeigh said...

I actually am not a fan of white pizza! I need my marinara sauce hehe! But glad you enjoyed it and had a great weekend. Looks like you have a busy week ahead of you--hope all goes well.

As far as Valentine's goes, the Mr. and I are going to go out to a fancy Italian restaurant, then prob go to his house play board games, watch a romantic comedy and just be together! Nothing too fancy :-)
