Wawa Salads, Diet Coke

If you live in the mid Atlantic area, I'm sure you have been to a WaWa. I first encountered the WaWa/Sheetz concept when I moved from New England to Pennsylvania for school. At that time, I thought the idea of getting real food from a gas station was nasty (i.e. overcooked/old hot dogs). Wawa and Sheetz completely changed my perception! Wawa now has made to order salads. Since I was absent minded this morning and forgot to pack the biggest part of my lunch, I ran to Wawa and ordered up a salad. I must say, everything was so fresh and tasty it was awesome! I ordered romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, sliced onions, dried cranberries, shredded colby jack cheese and sunflower seeds. I topped it all off with fat free honey Dijon dressing. If you have a Wawa near you, I recommend trying their salads!

Melissa has inspired me to post up one of my current "goals". I think it is great to set goals for yourself along the way, whether they be food, exercise, or anything else! I think writing this one down will definitely help me stick to it! Since I was young I have always loved diet coke! In fact in college, I drank a ridiculous amount of diet coke! Since college, I have buckled down and for the last year or so, I have had about 1 can of diet coke a day. I have decided to cut back even more and only allow myself to have diet coke when we eat out (which is about one time per week). I started this about a week and a half ago and so far so good! I have been drinking way more water and I have substituted crystal lite in place of diet coke at dinner time (when I'm most tempted to have a diet coke). I will keep you posted on my progress! Do you have any goals? How do you make sure you stay on track?

Aw, that's awesome!!!! I hear soda is one of the toughest things to give up (of course after cigarettes, alcohol, or whatever people's "go to" item are).....Back in high school I drank a ton of Mountain Dew - maybe 6 a day? For some reason I just stopped - I think because I didn't enjoy it as much. When I first started my weight loss journey I drank a ton of either Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke but stopped because I read about all the bad stuff. Now I have maybe 1 a month or so and don't even really enjoy it.....it actually gives me a tummy ache! I bet you'll find the same thing! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Good for you with the Mountain Dew! I can't believe how much bad stuff is tied to diet soda! I think everyone assumes that since it has no calories, it must be fine for you! I know my body will thank me for this change! Thanks for the well wishes :)!!

Hi Erica,

I really like your blog too!!! Thanks for visiting mine this week, I'm glad you like it. Please let me know how the recipes turn out.
I too have quite the diet soda habit (diet Coke, Fresca, I'll try anything with fizz and no calories) but I know it's bad and am trying to cut down at least. :-)
How did you become a fitness instructor? That sounds really interesting, it's something I've considered too but never knew how to go about it.

I'm adding your blog to my Reading List, I hope you take a look my way again too. ~Sarah of Suite Apple Pie

Hey Sarah! I love teaching group fitness classes and you should def give it a try! I have been teaching for about a year and 4 months now! I have been taking group fitness classes since I was young. My parents went to a HUGE gym in California when we were younger and they had kid group fitness classes. Ever since then, I've been hooked. When I moved to MD to live with my now husband, I started at a new gym and they were looking for instructors. The head of group fitness asked me if I'd be interested and so I took the leap! I love, love, love it!

P.S. if you decide you want to teach, talk to the head group fitness instructor at your gym and see where they normally go for their trainings. A lot of the programs now are pre choreographed, and you will have to take a weekend full of classes to learn how to instruct the class. Other classes you will make up on your own. I started with a pre-choreographed class (Turbo Kick). Since that time, I have started teaching a class I mostly put together myself (hip hop) and another pre-choreographed class (Body Step). To instruct, you usually need to be CPR certified (some gyms also require you to be first aid certified), you may also need to get a primary group fitness instructor certification. You can read about group fitness certifications at the following sites:
