Brixx Lunch & Dinner at Home

I am usually pretty sad on Sunday nights because the weekend is coming to a close.... but we had such a great weekend that its hard to be sad! My morning started out with a great 6 mile run outside, baking a batch of granola for Josh and some cleaning. Around noon, my parents arrived to take Josh and I out to lunch for our anniversary. We went to Brixx and sat outside under the misters.

My Mom and I at lunch:

I got the Brixx salad with house-made fat-free honey chipotle dressing (spring mix, pine nuts, goat cheese, croutons):

Josh got the Hawaiian pizza (pineapple, prosciutto, mozzarella and cilantro):

My Dad got the Mediterranean with shrimp (red peppers, feta, romaine, banana peppers, olives, tomatoes, feta dressing):

My Mom got the chicken Caesar:

The food was tasty and fresh and the service was amazing. Here is a pic of Josh and I at lunch:

After lunch, we walked around and shopped for a bit and then my parents took off. I did some relaxing and a little WF's shopping. Josh and his friend Jeremy headed out to taco bell for CTS (crunchy taco Sunday), while I enjoyed din din at home. I had cantaloupe:

And another big salad (am I boring you yet ;)). I had romaine, slimcado, carrots, pinto beans, peppers, a little broccoli slaw, salsa:

Now I've got some more work to do! Did you have a nice weekend? Tell me about it!!

Hawaiian pizza is one thing I sincerely miss since becoming vegetarian 6 months ago...anything with prosciutto, actually.

But there are lots of things I DON'T miss, and I'll bet Hawaiian pizza is pretty good even without the ham.

Nice pictures!

Seriously, Erica. We are the same person, I swear. I am addicted to the Brixx salad. No joke.
You know about my weekend--it involved a bullie t-shirt and the go-ahead to get a D-O-G..although not for awhile still! Have a FABOLOSO Sunday night lady!

My weekend has been good, I have been a cooking machine. Beet salad with mint and red onion, fried zucchini flowers just because it's the only way I've EVER heard of cooking them, zucchini muffins for my hubby's breakfast, roasted chicken...whew...I'm tired!

Is Brixx a chain? I swear I've heard of it.
The salad looks great! It seems like good pizza places often have salads as good as or even better than the pizza.

Cute shots! I've heard great things about Brixx, my aunt and uncle lived in Charleston for a few years and she raved about Brixx.

Regarding the article link you posted, obviously exercise helps us lose weight because it burns calories. But sometimes the problem with our diet isn't just calories. It's chemicals and artificial foodstuffs that affect us and stress our system. A stressed body can't function properly. Exercise is important, but eating real food is just as if not MORE important IMHO. :-)

Erica, you cracked me up with the mention of Crunchy Taco Sunday - my boyfriend harbors a serious obsession with Taco Bell, which he feels guilty about indulging these days, now that he knows how to eat healthier, but I can TOTALLY see him picking up a ritual like a CTS! LOL Maybe he'd actually be better off if the TB runs were actually limited to one day a week...hmm... :)

What an awesome day with the fam :) That hawaiian piz sounds like a great choice!

I put TONS of salsa on my salads! Love that you do that :) It makes the BEST dressing in my opinion! 4 days till the weekend :) haha

aww sounds like you had a fabulous lunch with the family :)

i read that article and have to disagree with it. I mean yes, exercise makes you hungry, but some people don't overeat after they exercise and they are thin. I think its more towards the people who think they can have those 1 pound burgers and a milkshake after like a 2 mile run.

elise said...

blah. that article makes me mad and sad for americans. working out has WAY more health benefits than weight loss. also, i think you have to have a pretty intense workout to stimulate your hunger more than it would already be. im not sure about others, but i can think of an excuse to eat more regardless of how much i exercise, if anything, going to the gym makes me feel like im being healthy and so i eat well to continue the trend...not to cancel it out. anyways, thanks for posting it and provoking some thinking...
