Sunday Mish Mosh

Hey guys. Happy ALMOST Thanksgiving! Hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend. I’m glad you liked seeing all of the pictures from hiking yesterday. Today was another good one! I got up early to squeeze in a 6 mile run prior to the rain:

Then I went to Publix and got our mini week of food shopping done. I swung home to drop off the groceries and pick up Josh. We went to the car parts store to get a new battery for my car and Barnes and Nobles for some books. While at B&N, I picked up a grande non fat misto with three pumps of the new Carmel Brulee syrup:

The Carmel Brulee is pretty good. Its VERY sweet though (sort of like the cinnamon dolce). I still think pumpkin spice is my #1 and gingerbread my #2 (in terms of syrups...I like a good plain misto most of the time). Do you have a favorite coffee drink?
The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and watching football. While watching football, I checked out the official race results from my 10 miler the other week and found out that I came in first in my age group! I had no idea and was totally excited!!
I also made up a random combination of foods for Josh and I for dinner. Josh started with Nachos using leftover black bean soup and cheese:

Next, he had oatmeal with bananas, maple syrup and walnuts:

I started out with my favorite carrot chips:

Then another salad topped with leftover black bean soup:

And now I'm eating an apple with nut butter. Josh will probably have a melty salami sammy in a bit too ;). I kind of love random dinners. What are you having for dinner?

Happy Almost Thanksgiving to you too! Tonight we had chili for dinner topped with creme fraiche. Yum!

You know my favorite drink :)

I'm having fake baked ziti, which is basically just veggies mixed with marinara and topped with cheese and baked. But you know, fake baked ziti sounds more gourmet. Hope you had a nice weekend!

Congrats on the age group win! Yay!

The hubby snacked too much ealier while watching football.... cheese & crackers, then popcorn, so he was all set. I had some left over lasagne & a field greens salad. Now sipping some jasmine green tea. Ahh....

I am officially addicted to the pumpkin pie syrup!! I am ALWAYS trying to figure out how I can squeeze in a Starbucks pit stop now. Just had one today :)

You're such an early bird! I'm still not convinced that you sleep. :)

I want to try the caramel brulee- I heard a girl yesterday at Starbucks say that the CB latte is REALLY sweet, so maybe the way you had it is the way to go.

Congrats on the age group win!

Quite the mish-mosh of dinner foods, but I kind of like that too! My lunch was a mish-mosh today- split pea soup, a fresh roll from the batch I just baked, some pumpkin seeds, and some cranberry sauce (just made too!)

Those nachos look yummy. I'ves started to run and worked up to 3 miles, then I injured my calf muscle. Will be starting up again soon though.

The Carmel Brulee ...do you get the sugar or sugar free versions?

I confess to HATING fake sweeteners and always get the full on real stuff. I know it's pretty bad for me but I figure if I am gonna pay for S'Bucks and not brew my own, I may as well go hog wild, huh :)

I am def. a carmel fan. G'Bread would be #2 and Pumpkin is good but it's like a twice a year thing for me. It overwhelms me.

Gimme the 411 on the sugar(free) syrup deal and what you do...

My favorite coffee flavor at Starbucks is Pumpkin Spice, I wait all year long for it!

For dinner we had salmon wrapped in nori and a side of stir-fried veggies.

Congratulations on being first in your age group!!!! That is something to be VERY proud of!! :) I'd be on cloud 9, hell cloud 10 or 11 if I was able to run that fast! ;)

I don't like any kind of coffee. I've tried to like it, but ick. Love the way it smells though!!

We had leftovers and FINALLY remembered to eat the top of our wedding cake - this was shortly after publishing my anniversary post. haha! So glad I remembered before the day ended!! :)

CONGRATS on placing FIRST in your age group on the 10 miler! Way to go!

What a great way to use up some left overs, I love random, clean-out-the-fridge kind of dinners too.

It's morning now, but I got lazy so I ran out and bought on of those roasted rotisserie chickens form the grocery store. First time ever, but it was real GOOD!

I will eat good all week. I pinky swear.

Nice job on the run! I love lazy Sundays of watching football and just hanging around. Sometimes random dinners are just perfect for those said Sundays :)

Happy Almost Thanksgiving to you, too! My fave drink is a vanilla soy latte. But around the fall I love pumpkin spice and around Christmas I love the peppermint mocha! :)

PS Would you be interested in a Thanksgiving Challenge (spreading the healthy-love and making over a Turkey Day dish)? http://thechiclife.typepad.com/the_chic_life/2009/11/thanksgiving-food-challenge---whos-in.html

ha! a melty salami sammie. i haven't heard anyone bring up salami in AGES. that's hilarious!

sundays are the perfect day for just random eating especiiallly when watching some good old foozeball. my mom was all about making my younger brother (now that he's home for thanksgiving break) some crazy chili dip yesterday haha.

mmm i'm excited for you to go to tjs! lately i've been obssessssed with the 21 Salute seasoning (it's salt free) and pretty much has EVERY seasoning under the sun in it. i lovee it. and another good pick if you really love spicy things is their Smoked chipotle hummus. verrrry spicy but so good :)

I love the random dinner! There are nights where I would love to do the same thing (something savory and then oatmeal) but then I think, 'no people will think I'm weird.' No more! I'm going to go with my cravings now!

I'm boring when it comes to coffee shops - black coffee. A few years ago I had a gingerbread latte and it was pretty delish!

I just got your comment (how funny!) and I agree that I can't wait to see how the new Housewife is. We CAN make it through this mini week!!

Naomi(Onefitfoodie) said...

mm the carrot chips look awesome!

from Sbux...I like just the regular coffee-no flavors because I am nto a huge fan of the extra cal's in the syrups-PLUS i love a cappucinno with a few shakes of cinnamon!

GIRL YOU WON MY GIVEAAWAY!! head over to my blog!

Congratulations lil peep....YOU deserved it! I am so happy and excited for you! I really appreciated your comment!

I love Iced Coffee's with Stevia!

Enjoy the day!

I liked the caramel brulee, too!

Happy almost TG!

I tried a sample of the creme brulee the other day... I thought it was pretty sweet, too. When I want sweet I usually go for Chai with a double shot of espresso; for unsweet, a skim misto with a shot of espresso.

Anonymous said...

Happy almost Thanksgiving, Erica! I LOVE sweet drinks but found the cinnamon dolce too much for me... I love a hazelnut misto or a vanilla skim latte though :D

Dinner...tofu panini!

Anonymous said...

I love homemade nachos-they are the best!

Holy cow - congrats on the winning in your age group - whoop whoop!!

I love the skinny lattes at Starbucks, with SF vanilla.

I made crab ravioli - it turned out so good!

I agree, the caramel brulee from sbucks is yummy... but VERY sweet. I was happy that it tasted great with soy, sometimes I feel like not all their drinks taste right dairy-free.

Love your blog!
