E: Sunny Saturday & Pregnancy Update

Saturday was a fantastic day! Josh and I got up and went to the gym. I took Body Step & walked and he ran & lifted. If you have a significant other, do you like to go to the gym with them? After, I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went to Isle of Palms to the beach for a couple hours. On the bridge:

Such a pretty walk:IMG_1421

I decided to hit up the more “local” part of the beach. It was so beautiful and there were lots of people out walking their dogs (which I love):

When I got home, I got down to business and cleaned the house & did laundry/ironing. For dinner, Josh and I went out- just the two of us! Since we usually only go out to eat once a week, meals out are usually with friends or family. The alone time was a nice change. We had a Groupon to Dog & Duck, so that was the obvious choice for dinner. I got a Caesar salad with chicken (but got raspberry vinaigrette instead of Caesar dressing):

J got a ham & turkey club with roasted sugar snap peas:

For dessert, we used another coupon- buy one get one half off at Menchies. I got a combination of angel food cake & vanilla yogurt with fruit and a random piece of brownie:

J got the tart with lots of fruit. A nice night :)

Pregnancy Update: Week 17 (two pictures, just for fun)-

IMG_1410

As I noted in my last post, we had a regular checkup appointment this week. The baby’s heartbeat sounded good and I am right on track with my weight gain!! Craving-wise, I have been having a strange craving for a ham and cheese sandwich (which is really odd because I haven’t eaten ham in years and don’t even like it any more). I haven’t given in yet-haha. Things that have surprised me: how strangers have started to stare at my mini bump. I always wonder if they’re trying to figure out if I’m pregnant or rocking a beer belly ;). Favorite products as of late:

Sarah sent me the Girlfriend’s Guide to Baby Gear and I am obsessed! This is like the registering/purchasing bible.  If you have a pregnant friend, this would make an awesome gift. Thank you again Sarah!!

IMG_1409

I also am in love with the Boppy Total Body pillow I purchased. I am a LOT more comfortable sleeping now.

Lots of cooking & baking going on over here today! We’re headed to my parents tonight to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and Josh’s birthday. I am making chili, cornbread & a crisp for dessert!

What did you do this weekend??

The next best thing to a ham & cheese sandwich = turkey & cheese sandwich, melted. Go for it ;)

This weekend = you know by now, hahaha.

You're glowing!

Thanks for the book suggestion... I have a friend who is pregnant so I will be looking for it this week.

Your Saturday sounds perfect. I bet it was nice to spend the day with Josh and just relax.

Haha, I often wondered how awkward that must be when you have a little baby bump to think if people know you are really pregnant. When I was really sick and just came out of the hospital, my stomach was so swollen from the colitis it actually looked like a little bump. Someone asked me how far along I was and I almost died!!! :) LOL

Glad things are going well!! Always thinking about you my dear. ;)

love the pics!!! of your belly :) and also of the beach...reminds me soooo much of our time in SC in the springs, those SC beaches are beautiful this time of year! not crowded, not too hot!

Yaaaaay your bump is showing! So adorable :-)

And I bet it's nice for you and Josh to just have some time to yourself..and it doesn't hurt that your weather looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm jealous!

Im just curious about your decision to eat chicken again. (You might have posted about it and I missed it.) Are you eating it for the baby or are you just craving it? Do you think you will return to being a vegetarian after the baby is born?

Either way, you look so cute!

Erica said...

Hey Lee! I posted about when I first put up my pregnancy announcement. In the second & third trimesters, my doctor requested that I get 75 grams of protein a day. I could certainly do this with a vegetarian diet- but it would require some effort. I decided to return to eating meat while I'm pregnant. I will decide about going back to a full veg lifestyle after. Thanks :)

Ah! I figured I missed the post about it. I was just wondering, no judgement, of course.

I always post questions and forget to check back for a response too.

The weather looks gorgeous! I hope it is that beautiful when I get there this week.

You are glowing from head to toe! I think it's funny that you crave meat...maybe you need salt? Grilled ham & cheese = very salty. :)

Can't wait to see you!

You are so cute! I love the pictures of your baby bump, thank you for sharing them with us :-) I am so glad you had a nice date night out. That is the best thing sometimes, so relaxing when you get good food and don't have to clean up after.

The bump pictures are too cute. I can relate to weird pregnancy cravings. When I was pregnant with Joycie, I craved brussel sprouts - a veggie I had detested before pregnancy. Weird how the body works when we are growing babies!

What a perfect Saturday! Jay and I love going to the gym together (well, I at least like going with him!!).
Love the peanut bump - too cute!
Hope you're having just as nice of a Sunday.... :)

Very jealous of the sunshine you are having now. It's been wretched here, tons of rain and very cold. Oh well, it is winter I guess!

You look so fabulous and I'm so glad you like the book! There is way too much baby gear to comb through. One recommendation it did give that I listened to but am now going back on- the johnny jump up that hangs in the doorway. I loved it as a baby and as long as its properly installed it's safe. Lyla is loving putting weight on her legs right now so we're going to get one so she can hang and bounce.

Menchies is the perfect pregnancy dessert; I wish we had a branch near us since I love to try new yogurt shops. Looks like they are only in southern California at the moment, closest is in Livermore but even I wouldn't drive 30 minutes for yogurt :)

The cravings are cracking me up too, I'm sure they are going to get crazy as time goes on :) That books looks like a great find, maybe I'll have to get it for my friend who is due in April!

Don't know what I am more jealous of, your adorable bump or the awesome weather you are having! You look great, and it sounds like you have a lot of energy.

I craved orange soda when I was pregnant. I hadn't had it since I was a kid!

That walk on the beach looks so perfect!! I really wish I was there instead of in the freezing temps up here! You and Josh are so cute. My boyfriend and I sometimes go to his gym to play tennis, but I go to an all women's gym right now - I would love to go with him more often!
Your pregnancy updates so adorable - so glad you are healthy and feeling good! I bet it is really funny to see reactions from strangers. People never want to ask because what if you weren't pregnant? hehe

again, you are so cute!!

the beach pics make me SO excited for our trip to charleston!! :)

Your baby bump is so cute! That's funny that you're refusing to steer clear of the ham after not having it for so long.

We spent this weekend up in Seattle with family and went snowshoeing today. It was sunny and beautiful out!

You are the cutest pregnant girl :)

You look great! I've actually never eaten ham and when I want a salty lunch-meat based sammie I go for mesquite smoked turkey with cheese on whole wheat, grilled up like a grilled cheese sammie. So good!

I look forward to reading your update every week :)...thanks for doubling the pictures too.

My fiance and I don't go to the gym together because he is not a member, but we do hikes together and he works out at home with his weights and swims in the ocean.

Love the pics!! Great idea about the book...I do have a pregnant friend! Ooo ham and cheese sounds good to me now too haha!
So jealous of how nice it looks there!! Its snowing agin here :( Urg! I wish Brian would go to the gym with me...he doesnt do gyms I guess. He should though, I mean he's skinny and does soccer and ultimate frisbee, and runs with me, but I'm worried for his bone as he gets older, he needs so resistance training!

Holly said...

I've never heard of that book! I'm going to keep that in mind for friends in the future. :-)

What a great book suggestion!!! OMG, that is exactly what I will get my next expecting friend!

I spent saturday at the ER with Jeff- he's okay though, just sick. I made lentil loafs, and chicken and dumplings ( which was awesome) and soup. I cleaned the house up alot, I'm traveling monday-wednesday, its so nice to come home to a clean house with laundry already done!

You know yet?!?!

Love the update and beer belly .... er I mean, the "baby".... ;-)

and I couldn't help but say "awww" when I saw you were at IOP !!!

You look fantastic! So cute! I say try a turkey and cheese sandwich instead if you're not a fan of ham. It's pretty good!

You are so cute! I love the bump Erica!!

I crave ham and biscuits sometimes, only if the ham is pan fried though, lol. Scrambled eggs added to it helps too. :) I'm not even pregnant!!

I do like to go to the gym with Ari! It's fun when someone is there with you, although I do like to go by myself sometimes, too.

You look so lovely, Erica! As does that froyo.

Glad you had such a nice weekend and got to walk on the beach! Can't wait until it's warm enough to do that again here...
