Restaurant Review: Dog & Duck, Mount Pleasant, SC

Hello! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! It has been a nice one so far around here. I had to teach Body Attack last night and then enjoyed some relaxing time at home. Today, I taught Body Step, ran some errands, took Franky to the vet, got my hair done (!), and then went to dinner with Josh.

For dinner, we decided to go to Dog & Duck. We've been there one time before and it was fabulous! They have mostly pub food but its pretty GOOD pub food. We sat outside and the weather was just perfect. It was about 80 degrees with a sweet breeze.

For dinner, I order the Trojan Horse. "Grilled seasonal veggies tossed in a honey garlic sauce and topped with mixed cheeses- served in a grilled garlic herb tortilla." On the side I had the pea pods and a pickle.

Josh got the Golf Club. "2 layers of roasted turkey, Bavarian honey cured ham, and apple wood smoked bacon topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayo-served on three slices of white toast." Josh got it without the tomato or mayo and had waffle fries and a pickle.

My Review:

The Dog and Duck on Longpoint Road has a great, intimate outdoor eating area. The servers have been VERY pleasant both times we've eaten there(although a little slow). I love that they have a tasty/healthy vegetarian option at a pub! I actually requested that we eat there tonight. Afterwards, Josh and I went for a nice walk around the shopping plaza. All and all a great experience

Josh's Review:

Rating: 7 out of 8

This being our second trip to D&D, I knew what I was getting myself into from the get-go: sub-par parking, relatively slow service, but worth the wait for a solid sandwich. The biggest highlight for the evening (selling point for D&D, if you ask me) is the outdoor atmosphere - you could have a menu chock-full of dog food, a 5-mile walk from a long-term airport parking lot, rude waitstaff, and overpriced beers; but if the bar is open, and you've got outdoor seating in Mt. Pleasant.... I'll end up coming back time and time again. No to mention the outdoor seating is dog-friendly (with a name like Dog & Duck, how can you not be dog-friendly?).

The weather tonight was a breezy 80 degrees with just the perfect amount of sun to keep a childish grin on my face while donning my $4.95 pair of Belk sunglasses. Only downside of the night was a few customers were annoying and weird - two that must have smoked a pack of cigarettes during "dinner" (please note the quotes, I actually did not see them eat, only smoke and order food to be put on the table in front of them), also another two that were relatively heavy who spent an exorbitant amount of time determining what dessert to order (which only bothers me because they didn't order any dinner and probably could have done without the dessert)

In closing, I'd like to apologize to Dog & Duck because I think my negative tone this evening is not due to our night out (which was great), but moreso due to having to watch Joakim Noah (with his adorably lame ponytail) and Paul Pierce (with his poor wittle bwoody nose, awwww, and completely played out style of knee-high socks which haven't served for a good purpose, even back in the 70's for NBA basketball) on TNT. Between the two of them, I think they give Jim Carey a run for his consistency in overacting. The only shining spot for Boston is they actually play a white guy with red hair and a cheesy headband (albeit equally useless when you don't get enough minutes of playing time in a game to actually break a sweat) - it's about time they took note of Michael Rappaport's swagger and let someone like Scalabrine on the court.

So there ya have it ;) Any Sunday plans? We're going to hit up the IoP beach and I am hoping to meet up with Kath!

I had a club sandwich at our local pub too on friday night. It was good, but I miss my mayo in there (trying to be good and not eat mayo).
I hope we get to 80 degrees someday....:::sigh:::
