Weekend/Skinny B*tch

Hey all

How was your weekend? Mine was very nice. We had our first kickball game on Saturday. It was tons of fun (even though we lost!). I was a much better kicker than I thought I would be, which is great! Tonight I started reading the book Skinny B*tch. I'm only 5 chapters in but I'm pretty disappointed. I'm totally ok with people stating what they think works, as long as they truly examine the other side. I can understand their point on meat, but coffee? And basically saying its horrendous, what about all those studies that discuss the benefits? Did they even look at those? Am I being defensive because I <3 the coffee? Has anyone else read this book, thoughts?

Hope you have a nice Monday :)

The content/tone of that book should definitely just be regarded as entertainment - not something to take 100% seriously. The authors are having fun, but that also diminishes some of their credibility (so I don't blame you for feeling disappointed by it).

I understand where you're coming from - particularly on the coffee, as I have read countless studies stressing how it actually helps relieve muscle pain, etc. Let me know what you think once you finish it completely.

I'm not a fan of the book. It was like they were writing for the sheer entertainment and "wow!" factor rather than sharing information that might help people. I stopped drinking coffee for 2 days after reading that book. Needless to say, I am back enjoying my "wimpy" coffee now!

I feel ya on the book. I have the cookbook and was kind of put off by a lot of it. It just seems really hard to adhere to. No one is taking my french press coffee away from me! ;)

Veggiegirl- Thanks for the comment :) I do enjoy the comical element of the book. Sometimes finding the funny way to tell it like it is really hits people!

Jenn- I will def report back when I'm finished. Give me a little while though, I have reading ADD hehe.

Ashley/Jenn- If we lived closer, I'd suggest we all meet for some Starbucks :)
