Kaylin’s First Birthday Party

Last week, Kaylin turned the big #1!

We had a pretty large party (about 60 people) and a lot of fun!

One of the best parts of the party was all of the yummy food! I wish I had pictures of everything! We had meatballs (regular marinara & Asian inspired), Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, baked beans, crackers & cheese, chips & salsa, fruit and fruit dip, vegetables & hummus & veggie dip, nuts & nut mixes (from Trader Joe’s), rolls, strawberry spinach salad, cookies and cupcakes. Luckily, I had family helping out with some of the food (thank you everyone!!)

I made Kaylin’s smash cake using this recipe. The recipe is healthier and has a banana base:

Topped with a lighter cream cheese frosting:

More food pictures- amazing fruit:

Nuts & cheese:

I made a ton of chocolate cupcakes:

I topped them with Joy the baker’s peanut butter frosting. I also made Mama Pea’s con cookies (Josh’s Mom also brought chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips and chocolate covered pretzels):

The theme was Mickey/Minnie. Kaylin freaked out every time she saw a Mickey or Minnie.

We also had a keg Winking smile

Its hard to get a one year old to sit still:

Kaylin’s Aunt Jenny did SO much for the party (here with her boyfriend Mike who took all of the pictures):

Jenny put together a bundle of kids activities include noodle necklace making, coloring, bubbles, etc:

She also painted the beer pong table up for the party:

I had high hopes for the smash cake:

but it was much more dainty than expected:

Josh and I helped to make it a little messier! It was a fantastic day Smile!

Cupcakes have got to be the best party food. Of course ;) But besides the sweet stuff, a good fruit salad and cheese and crackers are always great choices for their simplicity

So much fun! And I love that you had a keg and a beer pong table. Ha. The first birthday party is more for the adults than the babies anyway, right?

This whole post is so cute. I always think Kaylin is SO cute, but in the first picture she is just so PRETTY. She's going to be gorgeous. That is so sweet of Jenny to make the beer pong table. So creative!

What a FANTASTIC party!! The food sounds out of this world, and I love how dainty Kaylin is with her smash cake. :) She is such a beauty! The Mickey and Minnie decorations really make me smile because I was such a huge Minnie fan at her age. And kudos on those cupcakes and that beer pong table - so cool! Happy first birthday to Kaylin and here's to an exciting year two!

this whole post i'm wondering what in the world is a "smash cake" and then i realized DUH it's a cake where the baby can punch into it? no? hahahah Kay knows what's up though - she's like "MA you're going to put me on the internet - there is no way I am being a non-dainty smasher"

the keg was to get the hubby & men to sit still no? and omg Kay has the BEST AUNT EVER! are you going to save that beer pong table for her 21st birthday party?! hahah that would be awesome.
