Happy Friday! I hope it has warmed up where you are (or at least stopped snowing/icing/raining). What are you up to this weekend? We have lots of plans including a hair appointment (hooray!!), lunch with my parents, a Christmas party & brunch with friends. I am very excited!
Yesterday was a very productive day. I worked, got in some gym time, cooked and finished up my Christmas gift for my hair dresser. Mandi and I had a discussion yesterday about what is the “norm” in terms of holiday gifts for your hair dresser. Does it depend upon how long you’ve been seeing them? What about if you tip well regularly? I have been seeing my hair dresser for some time now, so I decided to get her an Old Navy gift certificate and to bake her a batch of my vegan double chocolate pumpkin muffins:
For dinner last night, I was MOST definitely in the mood for breakfast for dinner after seeing Lindsay’s French toast. I also made up a batch of French toast using my homemade soft sandwich bread with flax and a special ingredient, Kahlua.
- Desired type of bread
- 1 egg, 1 egg white
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons Kahlua
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Whisk eggs and then add in milk, kahlua, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix well. Dip bread into mixture and then place onto a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook ~ 5 minutes (or until nicely browned) on one side, and then flip and cook ~3-4 minutes (or until nicely browned) on the other. Top with your favorites!
Have a great weekend!
What an amazing flavor combination!
I am ALWAYS a fan of adding alcohol to any meal. LoL. This FT sounds amazing! Kahlua is such a great ingredient, to drink and to eat. ;)
Hope you have a wonderful Friday my darling girl.
That is quite an interesting addition to the French Toast. It has certainly warmed up since yesterday, what a relief!!!
Have a great day and fun this weekend!
Oooooooooooohh, what a great idea!!
I never remember to add alcohol when I'm cooking.....I should probably re-evaluate this. :)
I love cooking with Kahlua...because then you can drink the leftover!! :-)
I don't even know the last time I had French toast. What a fun breakfast!
Oh YUM!! We have some kahlua too :D
I usually just get my hair stylist a giftcard to Starbucks :)
This weekend I have a family Christmas get together....but that's about it.
anything w/ kahlua is gonna be awesome!! flavors look soooo good together in the french toast!
and i hope you guys have an awesome weekend!! :)
I saw something on the Today show yesterday about tipping at the holidays...and they said you should tip the cost of the service...so a $50 haircut, would mean a $50 tip for the holidays...but I am not sure if this means just the $50 or that plus the usual tip...either way, I guess they should be happy whatever they get, right? lol
Yum to that french toast! It would be wonderful with Hawaiian bread, but of course, not as healthy! lol
Kahlua in Frech toast? YES, PLEASE! That sounds so, so good! I bet Bailey's would be terrific, too. :)
wooo hooo!!! glad yours turned out well too! love the fresh berries!!!! i think i'm gonna have to try your version :)
now thats a good way to start the day: kahula for brekkie! LOL
It must depend on how long you've been seeing them because I've never even thought about buying gifts for my hairdresser. But I've only been to her three times, so maybe that's why!
yummm Kaluha on french toast sounds so good!
i have a hair appt this weekend too - i can't wait - it's definitely time to get a touch up :)
I love french toast, especially with berries! Adding Kahlua is a great idea!!
This weekend I plan to do a lot of relaxing and Christmas shopping!! Hope you have a great one, Erica!
okayyyyyyyy! haha let's get down with kaluah at breakfast lunch and dinner! that's a definite way to get the party started in the morning haha or at night?
you are the holiday party animal! this weekend i took it easy today and then tomorrow i've got to get my xmas shopping done and we're meeting the brother's girlfriend's parents. haha kind of weird but she wants us to! should be interesting haha enjoy your weekend and i'm thinking you need to incorporate that liquored up french toast in a parfait this weeeekeeend!
I love any recipe that calls for alcohol! :-) Those look delicious. Isn't Brinner the best???
Hmmmm.....I don't get my hairdresser a gift at Christmas. :-( But I do tip her really well throughout the year (she is also a friend), so I guess that's not too bad! Maybe next year I will bake her something....
What a great combination!
oh yes, i'd even eat those for dinner :) fabulous!
i hate getting my hair cut around the holidays as i feel the need to tip more... but as i don't go that often or really know my person here i don't want to. so i'll wait until after the holidays :)
It's so nice that you bring your hair dresser presents! Hope the appointment goes well... I LOVE getting my hair done.
That French toast sounds amazing! I rarely order it in restaurants... if I do, it can't be boring, it has to have an amazing special ingredient. This looks like my cup of tea!
Have fun with your weekend plans :-)
Mmmm nice way to get Kahlua in in the morning time, hehe. Have a great weekend! We're finishing up Christmas prep and seeing the in laws family.
oh what a fun way to spruce up french toast!
O.m.g. You had me at Kahlua.
