Hominy Grill & Party Treat Tray

How has your weekend been so far? Ours has been super busy. Saturday morning, I taught Body Step, baked, and then headed to our first holiday meet up with friends at Hominy Grill. Although Hominy Grill is a very well known Charleston restaurant, we had never been there. I loved the sign on the door:

Yes! And they are delicious.

The inside of the restaurant is bright and charming. I started with coffee, which was just OK. The mug was awesome:

Kaylin was on her phone most of breakfast:

You’ll be shocked to know I ordered their granola with yogurt and bananas. This bowl was HUGE! The granola (hidden under the yogurt) was delicious, full of nuts and seeds. The yogurt was plain (vs. vanilla), which I really liked.

Josh got the country breakfast with scrambled eggs, a biscuit, grits, and double cut bacon:

Josh said his breakfast was just ok, but the biscuits were tasty.

Anyone else been to Hominy?

We returned home and I finished up my baking. We headed (briefly) to a kiddo birthday party and then out to my group fitness supper club party. I brought dessert:

Double chocolate chip cookie dough balls, dark chocolate M&Ms, espresso oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (I used 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder instead of the coffee spice), and pretzel treats (pre-heat oven to 350, place pretzels on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, top each pretzel with one candy melt. Bake for ~3 minutes, remove from oven and immediately press a chocolate chip or M&M on top of melt).

We had such a blast at the party and were very grateful that Josh’s parents and brother could watch Kaylin so we could have some adult time. The ladies (sorry its dark!):

Today, I am cooking a Thanksgiving meal. Josh was sick on Thanksgiving and didn’t eat much. He was totally bummed, so I decided to put together a mini feast. I will tell you about it in my next post (fingers crossed that it turns out!).

Sounds like a lovely weekend. I love going out to brunch and your meals and my meals look so similar as opposed to what Josh and Toly would get. We would all be so close. :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend love!

I've never really been blown away by Hominy Grill. It's good, but I think there's much better in Charleston. Looks like y'all had a fun weekend!

I know I'm from the south and I'm supposed to like grits, but I'm just not into them.
