How was your weekend? Our was really amazing!! Josh, myself (and the bump), my Dad & Mom, Uncle & Aunt all took a trip to Savannah:
Hopefully this recap isn’t TOO huge. Feel free to just look at the pictures ;).
Friday: The day started off rainy, but ended up being beautiful! Unfortunately, due to the rain, we ran into the closest restaurant, Locos Grill & Pub:
The food at Locos is only so, so, but they have awesome drink specials (which they others enjoyed). One food highlight was their fried pickles:
Other than a couple pickles, I had a grilled chicken salad for lunch that was just ok.
The boys headed back to the hotel to rest, the ladies walked and walked and walked and shopped! For dinner, we went to Moon River Brewing Company:
The service at this restaurant was fabulous and the food was tasty! They even have awesome vegetarian and vegan menus. I got their veggie burger on a salad. The veggie burger was totally yummy:
Josh got a chicken Caesar wrap with onion rings:
After dinner, there was more walking and site seeing. Josh & I:
My parents and Aunt/Uncle went to see a show, Josh and I walked around a bit more and explored a few art galleries and then called it a night.
Saturday: My Dad and I woke up early to get a workout in. I mixed it up between a big walk through the town and some gym time. Then we headed to Lady & Sons (Paula Deen’s restaurant) to get our reservation for later that night.
They are NOT kidding when they say get there RIGHT when the booth opens or before (9:30 AM). We got there at 9:50 and couldn’t get table for 6 until 9:15 PM. We decided to split up 4 & 2, so that we could eat dinner at 7:45. I was SO excited for dinner.
We spent the morning exploring Savannah. The riverfront:
And then took a buggy tour of the city. This was Bob, our driver:
For lunch, we wanted a nice view of the water. We ended up eating at the Fiddlers Crab House & Oyster Bar:
The view and service were great:
But the food was just OK. I got a shrimp salad and the shrimp was overcooked. Plus….they put unlisted bacon on top of my salad (and I hate bacon)…
After lunch, there was more walking and site seeing. My Mom and I also hit up the hotel pool. And then, it was time for dinner!
We checked in and patiently waited for our names to be called. Then we got our official dining location (they have a hostess on each floor of the restaurant):
For dinner, I ordered the cornucopia salad (apparently I had a salad thing going this weekend). The salad comes with some unique ingredients, including bananas! I got it without the mushrooms:
Instead of bread, they bring you a hoe cake (cornmeal type pancake) and a cheddar and chive biscuit. These were RIDICULOUS. The hoe cake was my favorite. I only think there was 1 stick of butter in this :)
The salad beast. The croutons were incredible and I actually loved the banana in the salad. The poppy seed dressing was the perfect compliment. This thing was MASSIVE. I ate maybe half.
Josh got the chicken pot pie (which is cooked in the bowl show). On top is filo dough:
I tried a little of the pot pie and the dough, both were fantastic!
We rolled out of the restaurant, very content! It is a little pricey for what you get, but definitely worth the experience (in my opinion). They also have a Southern buffet that my Uncle got and really enjoyed.
Sunday: My Dad and I got up for another workout and then joined the group for breakfast at the hotel. We rolled out early. Such a great trip! A perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day with my Mama!
After this trip, we want to do more exploring around the US. Any suggested US locations?
