A side note...

Hey guys-

This isn't a real post, just a note :) I received a comment asking why I alter meals/don't always eat the same thing or as much as Josh does sooooo I wanted to clarify. First, I don't post everything I eat here (duhhh). I eat about 5-6 smaller meals a day while Josh usually eats 3-4 larger meals, so my dinners are usually smaller than Josh's (not to mention he is 6'2"-6'3" and I am 5'1"). Second, I don't eat as much meat as Josh, so usually my dinners will end up looking a little different. Third, if I eat something smaller like a salad for din din (like last night), I usually keep munching afterwards. For example, last night I had an apple with peanut butter after my salad. Just wanted to clarify!

Oh Miss Erica, I find it funny that people would think that was all you ate! I know better ;o) And personally, I think it's cool that you show us Josh's plate because it's interesting to see how a guy eats compared to us ladies. It's so true what you said about him being 6'2" and you being 5'1" - I read a lot of articles about girls trying to match eating habits head on with their guys, and the results aren't too much fun. Guys are just animals...that's what I've decided.

If I ate as much as Mark I would constantly be in search of food!

I just figure you are super health conscious but that doesn't mean your husband can't eat what makes him happy! Oddly, for us, my husband and I usually eat the same stuff and the same amount. He's 6'4" and I'm 5'3". It's kind of embarassing. I like to eat a lot. :-) Luckily I have a fast metabolism!

Hehehe I think that was a funny question but everyone knows we can't eat as much as men I know I eat more than my bf sometimes but I am a junkfood queen and trying to change that lol.

Erica, I don't really get those people asking these questions.. what's the point? I don't find any answer except to annoy you.
Be whatever you want to be, eat whatever you need/crave and you don't have to justify why you did it, period!

My plate is always smaller then my boyfriends, and a lot of times he'll eat something that I don't want at all. Guys eat differently although you're a lot nicer then I am, if Andrew wants something different then me he can make it himself haha.

Erica, I am new to reading your blog and I love it!
I am super excited to try your Cliff Mojo bar recipe, I love those things!

Most of the time my hubby and I eat completely different meals. He likes some nasty stuff that I just don't want : )

Thanks for clarifying, even though you shouldn't have to! I guess after reading blogs that are actual food journals, people take things on here pretty literally!! I hate feeling hungry so I always eat smaller meals throughout the day, where my boyfriend is usually ravenous by dinnertime! I have to remind myself of that and portion control :)

I do the exact same thing for me and my hubby. I am constanly making 2 different meals for us. Well its usually the same meal but I alter them entirely to our liking. I've gotten so use to this that its really no trouble at all. I actually kind of enjoy it. I love food and I love to cook and I would rather the people who eat my food enjoy it as much as I do.
Screw what other people say! You know what your body needs and your husband obviously needs more. There are nights when I eat more than him but more often mine eats more too...its just logical!

Take care hun!

Guys can eat so much food it's RIDIC! My brothers come home from college and inhale our fridge like it's their job.

Girl you know that the same thing happens at my house. It is too bad that you got such a negative comment - you are just a sweetie pie.

i think your "system" obviously works really well for you! i wonder what i'll end up doing when/if i start living with my guy.... i hope i can follow your example!! because he declares a meal isn't a meal without meat.... haha. i love seeing what josh eats too - men are from mars and women are from venus, after all :)

Hi Erica! Just wanted to chime in and say good for you for listening to your body and eating for your needs. I get self conscious when people comment about how much I eat at meals, but since I, like Josh, don't snack much between meals, am tall, and work out more than the average Chiquita banana, I need to make sure I'm getting enough calories to fuel my body. Everybody is different, and I think you send an important message out into the blogosphere by showing how your meals differ from Josh's. We aren't all built the same, folks! :)

I like your pics of your plate, vs. Josh's plate. Funny that you mentioned your snacking habits were different from Josh's...my hubby snacks less than me, too.

We here in the South always welcome those who like good eatin'. :)

Duh, of course you eat more than that. How do these people think you get through all those Body Pump classes? :)

Seriously, you know I love the side by side dinner plates because it is the EXACT same at our house. Those boys and their metabolisms. Have a good weekend Erica!
