I’ve been so bad about posting recipes lately. I’ve just been busy (in the best kind of way)! This week has involved work, teaching at the gym, spending time with the man, taking care of my favorite little lady:
spending time with friends:
trying new (and delicious) foods:
and cooking & baking! I made these crock pot Asian meatballs a while back. They were so good, that I re-made them using turkey (served with quinoa, peas & sesame seeds):
Yesterday, I threw together crab cakes. I despise mayo, and put together a batch without it. I had just finished teaching at the gym, was trying to feed Kaylin, and Josh was walking in the door from work….so this is the only (lame) picture I got. I assure you these are delicious!
Mayo-Less Crab Cakes:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz crab meat (canned)
- 1 egg (medium or large not extra large)
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon old bay
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except crab. Add in crab and mix with your hands. Form into 5 mini cakes. Place (covered) in fridge for a half hour (or longer).
Either spray a skillet with non-stick spray, or add a little butter or olive oil. Heat over medium heat and cook each cake for ~3-4 minutes each side (they should brown up). Serve with your favorites sides or put on top of a salad.
So good! Love crab.
I fit in my workout this morning, so I am off to finish up work, pickup my Color Me Rad race packet, and meet Mandi for coffee! What are you up to?

That first picture of Baby K made my day!! I hate mayo too - love your version of crab cakes without it! And I am loving following you on Instagram!
Aw- thank you! Mayo...ick! Instagram is awesome. Its such a great way to keep up with what everyone is doing!! Hope you're having a good birthday week (yes, you get a whole week!!)
Mmm. I'll need to try those! I don't get crab cakes too often, but when I do, I usually love them (82 Queen's are the best I've had!). I love that yours are mayo-less. They seem easy enough, right? The idea of making them myself has intimidated me a little.
I have looked in over 10 stores for the flips! I am flipping out! Ugh. Crab cakes look bombbb! xoxo
I have got to get my hands on these chobani flips. .
Look at that smile! I just can't take it!
Looks like a fun week! Super cute smile on her little face :)
Though I do love mayo, I'd still love to try crab cakes without it for a change.
Oh I will have to give these a try! Jesse was asking about crab cakes and I've never made anything like them (well, except thai style fish cakes) so I kind of let the idea slip my mind, haha.
She is just such a little doll! And love the idea of skipping the mayo. I do like it but sometimes lighter is nicer :)
Those crab cakes sound delish! I love crab, partly because it makes me think of summertime!
I've never made homemade crab cakes - I'll have to try!
Tonight we plan on staying in and catching up on our DVR and tomorrow Colin asked me if we could make homemade onion rings, so we're gonna try! :)
the crab cakes look so good...but I LOVE mayo!! haha I wish I didn't. I don't really even like the light stuff...the real deal stuff I could eat everyday! As much as I love mayo, I really don't think it's a very important ingredient in crab cakes anyway...so I bet these were just wonderful!!!! I just wish crab wasn't so dang expensive!! Kay is getting SO BIG!!! enjoy this time!! You won't ever get it back!
Can't wait to hear about the Color Me Rad race!!! I LOVEEEEEE crab cakes! Definitely need to make some asap! I've been making tuna cakes like it's my job lately - which reminds me I really want to eat lunch right now hahah. Love Kays happy smile!! Enjoy that coffee date lady! xoxo
have fun saturday at the run!! delicious eats, you've making me hungry! after my most recent forray into key lime pie, i need to find that chobani :)
