A Lovely Sunday

Monday already! The weekends just fly by, don't they? We had a nice Sunday around here. I woke up somewhat early and headed out on a 6 mile run:

After my run, I showered up and then did a little bit of reading about the wonderful city I live next to:

And then Josh and I headed out to Brunch (my favorite meal) at Charleston's Cafe (which is amazing). Josh got the three grain pancakes again and I got the Granny Apple Breakfast Parfait with coffee and skim milk:

Deliciousness! The rest of the day was pretty relaxed, we mostly just caught up on things around the house. Dinner was a hodge podge of whatever we had on hand. Josh tried out the Gardein Home Style Beefless Tips that the company sent us previously to try out.

Since I wasn't a beef fan (when I ate meat), I left these allll to Josh! Although he enjoyed them, he noted that they were a little too salty. He preferred the Seven Grain Crispy Tenders that we tried previously:

Do you eat any fake meat products?
I may be MIA this week- if so, I apologize! Explanation to come ;)

I'm really intrigued by those beefless tips! I want to try them - I don't like meat that much but love steak tips, etc.

I sometimes eat veggie burgers but I prefer the kind that taste more like vegetables than the ones that imitate beef. I never was much for beef in the first place, like you.

Sometimes I eat the fake chicken products even though I eat real chicken. I just like the way they taste.

Interesting :-) I hope you have a great week!!1

I actually liked a boca product that looked and tasted like McDonald's McRib sandwich, but I haven't seen it on the market in ages.

Have a great week - we'll be here when you get back! :D

I tried those beefless tips and thought they were pretty good, but then again I was never a fan of beef before I went vegetarian. Glad you had a good weekend! Mine flew by way too fast as well. :)

Brunch is my favorite meal too. :)

I have those beef tips that I got from Garedin as well. I need to give them a whirl.

I can't wait for the day that I can head out for a 6 mile run. At this moment I can not even consider myself doing that type of run. But I'm working on it!

I don't eat any fake meat products. It's not that I wouldn't but I just haven't tried them.

I have seen these Gardein products all over blogworld and really would like to try them... I am trying to cut back on the amount of meat in my diet since after the surgery I really am not craving it as much! Have a wonderful week girl XOXO :)

Great run! Oh and I haven't been to Charleston in ages.... it is such a beautiful city! Actually one of my college friends moved their recently.... she seems to be enjoying it.

Most I do is veggie burgers... but those more often than not aren't attempting to really be meat. ;-)

(Blinking) I'm confused. Why wouldn't you just eat real beef?

Meatless ground crumbles make for EXCELLENT Mexican themed nights :)

Hope you are able to have a mindful Monday! (Yes, I'm loving alliterations)

That breakfast parfait looks awesome. I wish my favorite breakfast place made something like that. It looks refreshing!

Can't wait to hear what you're up to!

oh i love finding new things to do around home!

i do eat meatless products a few times a month when i am really wanting some protein

I'm not a huge fan of fake meat. I find it never really tastes that great.

Hope you have a good week.....whatever you're up to! ;)

I am dying to try the Gardein products! I'd love to try the fake chicken ones.

I eat tofu, but that's about it. When I was a vegetarian (for 6 years!), I ate fake meat products - a lot of morningstar farms chik'n nuggets and corn dogs because they were fabulous (at least back then, no idea if they still are).

Oooh the suspense - looking forward to seeing what exciting things you're doing this week!

I LOVE Primal "beef" jerky. I like all the flavors, but mesquite lime is my fave. I also LOVE Morningstar Farms Spicy blackbean burgers, sausage patties, buffalo chik'n tenders and grilled chik'n strips. Yummmm!

Samantha~ said...

I eat the "burger" type fake meat. Since I do eat meat, its cheaper to eat the real thing than the imitation. Would like to try some Quorn products thought. I see them a lot on blogs and they look great!!

I do eat meat substitutes especially around lent and I am trying to mix up the dishes. It gives tacos a whole new look for the kids :)

Best of luck on your busy week.

I love fake meat products. I eat a veggie burger almost everyday for lunch.

Your parfait looks so good and I love southern living!! :)

That parfait looks fab! Yummy x x

I'm with you, I wasn't really into beef (or any meat really) for that matter when I was a meat eater.

So I never eat any fake meats. The only meat that I did like was cured stuff like pepperoni and summer sausage.

I've been a vegetarian almost a year now, and when I first started out I ate imitation products quite often. Now I've grown to not really enjoy the taste, and the fake ingredients in majority of them. There are two I do love though. Sunshine Burgers, and the vegan Sesame "chicken" from the hot bar at Whole Foods.

The weekend did fly by! I guess, time definitely flies by when you are having fun :) That parfait looks so good!

I have tried a couple of the Gardeins, they have all been really good specially the "Tuscan Breasts". I am not a beef fan either that's why I haven't given the Beefless Tips a shot.

6 mile run, you go girl. I can only walk 3 miles before passing out. Running, is not made for this body. I save my heavy workout for the weights.
I love all the veggie sausages from whole foods, not fond of the morningstar brands.

Naomi(Onefitfoodie) said...

hey girl! hows it goinnng!! these gardein prodcuts are everywhere and I got some to have this week too (maybe tonight!?) that parfait looks awesome I want a big ole bite :)

i sometimes eat fake meat prducts, it depends on the taste...one time my mom and I had these fake chicken skewers and we legit couldnt swallow it it was so chewy!! btu I am excited to try the gardein products!

Juliana said...

Beefless tip! Interesting...I usually do not look for "fakes" one, rather have the real ones when I crave :-) On the other hand this beefless tip sure look real.

BroccoliHut said...

Yum! That parfait looks delicious!
I eat far fewer fake meat products now than I did when I first became a vegetarian. I still like the occasional Tofurky sandwich:)

Tiffany said...

wow, you're a speedy one! :D
i've tried the gardein tuscan breasts, and they were realllly good. haven't tried the beeftips because i'm not a fan of the real thing to begin with. but i will have the chicken again! i'm not a vegetarian, but i do eat a lot less meat than i used to. i love morningstar burgers the best!

Love the Gardein review! I wasn't a beef fan when I ate meat either - too chewy. Your brunch sounds fabulous! I haven't gone out to brunch in so long!!

No apologies needed!! I can't wait to hear what you've got up your sleeve :)

Have a great evening and an even better Tuesday!

Lauren said...

I was never a fan of beef either. Or pork. And, come to think of it, I never really cared for chicken all that much. Guess it's a good thing I don't miss meat. ;)

Lovely Sunday indeed! :)

Susan said...

That parfait looks dy-no-mite. People who dig brunch know what's up! (aka you girl) : )
I'm not a big faux-meat fan, but perhaps that's because I'm not a big meat fan. I like sunshine and amy's california burgs since they aren't trying to be something they're not, if ya catch my drift)

I Run for Fun said...

What a super run. You are so speedy, girl!

I don't really like red meat, so don't bother with fake meat products.

speaking of beef-less. I bought steak yesterday, but the thrill is gone. So it'll probably sit in the package until it rots. And then I'll throw it out. Huh?

fittingbackin said...

I LOVE charleston! Those beefless tips are interesting!!

I like boca crumbles, boca burgers, morningstar farm chicken patties and morningnstar farm sausage patties - YUM!!

Looking forward to seeing w hat's up!

jess said...

I don't think that I would eat a fake meat product, weather I eat meat or not. They are just kind of strange to me, the idea of posing as meat : )

I am all about a veggie burger though - that is not as deceptive ; )

sophia said...

Funny...I just received some sample packs from Quorn! It'll be the first time I try meatless products besides Boca (which I hated).

Maria said...

I dont eat meat and I dont like to eat anything that is supposed to taste like it:)
I hope everything is ok! We will miss you this week!

Andrea @ CanYouStayForDinner.com said...

Mmmm great breakfast parfait! And good job on your run!
I generally don't eat any fake meat products. But I do love the taste of a lot of the Morningstar Farm burgers!
Have a great week!

Esi said...

I'm not a huge fan of the fake meat products. Would rather do less meat than fake meat, but once in a while it's not bad. Hope you have a great week!

Yay for breakfast parfaits!!!!! I like some fake meat products, but I prefer veggie options that aren't trying to be meat- Amy's burgers and Original Gardenburgers are my favourite :)

I bought Yves veggie breakfast sausages a few months ago, and they were terrible. I'm not opposed to all of their products, I quite enjoy the veggie dogs and burgers...these sausages just didn't quite do it for me.

Holly said...

yay for exciting MIA news - i wish i had something cool to be MIA about :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE my gardein! after you mentioned that really, for the price and quality you are getting, it really isn't that much, i have changed my stance on the $$$ issue :)

i think i may have to make a trip to charleston soon - i hear nothing but wonderful things about it!

love ya!

Awesome run! I don't eat replacement meat products in general, I like veggie burgers that taste like veggies!

Yummy, I love brunch too! The granny smith parfait looks delicious, but I don't think I have the willpower because I love pancakes; I never eat them at home (I'll make them for Ray and I'll eat oats), so I usually order them when we have brunch out.

Not a fan of 'pretend meats.' I like veggie burgers and things that don't try to taste like meat. Those always end up tasting weird IMHO.

I used to LOOOVE fake meat, but that's before I learned what it was made of, haha. Now I prefer to stick to tofu, but there are still some fun meat substitutes out there (hello vegan corndogs! haha).

Great job on the run! I just love lazy Sundays. That's so cute how you guys go out for brunch so often:) Such a cool tradition. And the parfait looks delish!
I eat meatless products every so often...maybe once a week?

Nice job on the run! I just love lazy Sundays :)

I only eat meatless products every so often. Maybe once a week.

I eat boca products a lot. They are really good!

Anna said...

I have been eating Boca burgers as of late...not the best thing because of they are not organic, but on occasion I like them!

Don't worry about being MIA; it happens to everyone :) take care of your self!!

Kristen @ Change of Pace said...

Those beef(less) tips look pretty yummy! I think they'd be a good alternative to red meat. I really like the Amy's veggie burgers and prefer them to real burgers. And lately I've been into the Quorn chicken patties... I'm not a vegetarian but try to steer clear of most meat.

lizzy said...

hi chica!! great run!! delicious parfait...I can never re-create them to look as good as the restaurants do! I don't ever eat fake meat products because they are way too processed...I do make my own veggie or bean burgers though! YUM! I hope your having a great time doing whatever's keeping you busy ;)
xoxo!

That apple breakfast parfait looks so yummy! I've never tried meatless substitutes, but I'm not a huge meat person to begin with and don't eat it too often anyway!

Aggie said...

I loved that Southern Living edition...makes me want to head up to Charleston! So lucky you live nearby! That parfait looks perfect!

I'm not a big fan of faux meat. I do however enjoy the Morningstar Veggie Sausage patties when I eat eggs for breakfast.

Anonymous said...

those sound yummy!! But I agree, fake meat is only good when it isn't really salty or spicy or funky. Now that I wrote that out that sounds really obvious and stupid......but oh well! I would like to get back on the meatless meatball train!
