Guilt Free Banana Bread & Flatout Flatbread Crisp Review

Hope your week is off to a good start! I have a busy day ahead that includes working & launching Body Step at 2 clubs. I am excited to show the members the new release (its a toughie!). What do you have on tap today?

The rest of my weekend (since my last post) was very nice. I decided to hang in on Saturday night and made up One Frugal Foodie's Guilt Free Banana bread (with a little added guilt ;)).

I followed her recipe almost exactly, but substituted unsweetened applesauce for the coconut oil and then added in a little guilt with some large chocolate chips. I also left a few banana chunks in the mix. The outcome:

Very tasty! I love that its just slightly sweet. I ate one slice and then gave the remaining portions to two of the instructors I'm launching Step with today.
I also received a VERY exciting package, New Flatout Baked Flatbread Crisps from the wonderful Jenn and the people at Flatout (disclaimer: I received these products for free). The company/Jenn sent me all four varieties to try, Sea Salt:

Multigrain:

Four Cheese and Garlic Herb:
Josh had his friend Jeremy over and we all dug in! We ate the chips plain first and then I made some flatbread crisp nachos for the boys:

We ALL loved the crisps! They are sort of a hybrid between the flatout wraps and your typical cracker. They have a slight crisp, but are still sort of soft/doughy. I liked the multigrain best, while Josh and his friend Jeremy liked the Sea Salt best. Very tasty! Thank you so much Jenn & Flatout!!!!

Sunday morning, I had Body Step practice and then hit up the usual brunch with Josh. You know what I got....

The rest of the day was spent enjoying the weather, doing a few errands, and cleaning.
What is your favorite brand and type of coffee(if you drink it)?

That banana bread looks so good! We have tried the flatout crisps, but only the four cheese so far. They are so good!

I'm not a coffee drinker unless it comes from Starbucks with lots of junk in it!

Another amazing baked good from Itzy's Kitchen! :) No surprise that it was fantastic! :)

Sounds like you had a great weekend. Happy Monday girl!

Those Flat-Out Crisps look great!!!
So does the banana bread! It sure wouldn't last long in this house :)

I love all coffee, especially the "caffeine kind" ;) Seattle's Best is my new fave brand.

The banana bread looks great!

I love Starbucks Vanilla Lattes... they are my weekend treat.

Today I am going to Pump and Zumba but I have signed up for the Pump and Attack releases coming to our club this weekend. So fun!

I'm not a big coffee drinker, usually during the winter I have it more though. I like to spice it with pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon! Or if I splurge at Starbucks then a Mocha Frap light is usually on the menu.

I just love banana bread....yum :-)

I haven't seen those flatout crisps yet - I'll have to try them!!

I'm not a coffee girl, never have been.

Good luck at the launches today - mine is Wednesday!

Woot! So glad that you liked the crisps :) I love the looks of them with nachos.

Good luck launching Body Step - that's awesome! Today I am having lunch with a lovely blogger and doing work, work, work! Hope you have a fabulous one!

I've seen those Flatout chips in the grocery store and thought about buying them, but didn't. Good to know that they are good. I'll pick up a bag next time.

I'm not a coffee drinker.

I'm a pretty straight up coffee gal. We drink and organic grocery store brand, half decaf. Pretty boring.
My MIL always brews a decaf hazelnut, and I like it a lot! Though, i don't think I'd want it every day.

have a great week!

Rose said...

I got some of the flat out chips too - and that is such a great idea for how to use them!

I don't drink much coffee but when I am in a coffee mood I race to Starbucks for some of their awesome iced coffee.

Hope you have a great Monday love!!

YUM - that bread looks delicious! I love the big Chocolate Chips. Now THOSE are some chocolate chips!

I actually don't drink coffee, except for the occasional latte from Sbux. I wish I did drink it, though! It's more of a temperature thing (I'm weird). :-)

The banana bread looks so good!! I don't really have a favorite brand of coffee.

Anonymous said...

I like the big chocolate chips in the banana bread - chocolate chips make pretty much anything better. :)

I drink a lot of Starbucks coffee (I like their Asia/Pacific or Italian blends) and I also like Kona coffee, especially by the company Southern Home (they sell it at Publix in SC).

the banana bread looks beautiful! i need to make some soon! actually..i need to use my berries first! moving soon!

and i don't drink coffee unless i'm driving across the country...caffeine in that form stays out of this body!

So great to know about the flatout crisps! I saw them at the store yesterday and debated picking them up, but didn't. Now I'll have to go back to the grocery store, my favorite place ever. Darn. ;)

I barely ever drink coffee but there is one place near us called Diesel Cafe that has the BEST coffee - it's my weakness for sure!

Hope the launch goes well!!!! That banana bread looks divine- I haven't made banana bread for far too long.

Hooray for parfait (that rhymes!!!)

Coffee- I like Starbucks Pike Place a lot. I use Nescafe at home.

Juliana said...

Oh! The banana bread looks yummie and what an interesting crisps...coffee? I usually get at Costco, the one that is roasted by Starbucks, it is pretty good and has a low acidity.

We had this creme brulee coffee from a Rostaria (sp?) in Champagne Illinois this week and it was HEAVEN!! We could smell the scent as soon as the bag was open. Yummmm :).

I was checking out the site for body step. I have been put off by step, thinking it was too slow paced. But that looked like a good workout. The combat one looked really good, kinda like kickboxing.

Hey girl! That bread looks amazing!! I'm sorry to ask so many vegetarian questions, but did you have a book that you started reading before you became a veg? One that maybe was geared towards athletes? Nomeatathlete kinda spurred my interest in becoming a vegetarian rather than a flexitarian after posting that trailer on his blog last week. Basically, I can't get the images out of my mind. I might eat meat a little if I know that it was ethically raised and slaughtered, but I have no urge to as of lately plus I don't have access or access to info regarding my meat in Germany. I know that they are better in Europe as far a meat production goes, but I don't know the whole story and it freaks me out. Any help? Why did you become a vegetarian?

yummy that banana bread looks good. Love the addition of coconut oil.

:) The flatout crisps sound/look wonderful... doubt I can get those here where I live!

Being Healthier said...

Wow Erica! Fantastic Bread and I bet those guys loved the nachos!

I drink Starbucks coffee OR I get Fair Trade Beans from Trader Joes, and grind it myself usually.

CaSaundraLeigh said...

I love using Flat Out wraps for everything under the sun, but I had no clue they came out with crisps---holy yum!

Therese said...

Yummmm I love how you said you added a "little guilt" to your banana bread :)

I'm wordering were those flat out crisps really high in sodium? The only reason I steer away from buying Flatout wraps is they have like 500mg of sodium a piece!

Britt said...

Great looking banana bread, I should make some with my nicely ripened bananas!

I'm all about flavored ice coffee, although I rarely make it at home. I usually just get some at work, they serve Green Mountain Coffee which I like. Love their Hazelnut & French Vanilla flavors.

HEAB said...

Erica - I love your added guilt. Chocolate chips and bananas make every loaf of homemade bread much betta! :)

Oh, and totally drooling over those nachos. I haven't seen the Flatout Flatbread Crisp yet, but I think I would love them, especially in nacho form.

My favorite coffee - It's this kona brand we buy from Costco. It's the most expensive they sell, and so we rarely purchase it, but it's so good. I also love local Nashville brand Drew's Brews. Yummy. :)

Alisa - Dairy Free & Fit said...

So glad you enjoyed the recipe! It is a favorite around here because it is quick to whip up and makes awesome breakfast toast - no sugar overload :)

Averie @ Averie Cooks said...

Holy awesome bread!!!!!!!! Love it! And the flatout crisps, havent tried those, didnt even know they existed. :)

Coffee. Well, I buy TJs brand for price and Starbux is over rated to me. Flavored coffees from target are good but in limited doses. Peet's coffee is great but very $$

Have a super week hot mama :)

Deva (Voracious Vorilee) said...

My favorite coffees are Starbucks' Breakfast Blend and any dark roast sold at Caribou. My favorite favorite is the blend sold by a coffee shop in my hometown. It's bold, fruity, and oh so yummmmy

Lori said...

I've become a serious coffee snob since living in Brazil. :) I'm still using up some from there so I don't know what I'm going to turn to when it runs out. Usually the Starbucks variety is strong enough for my tastes.

That bread looks so great!
